Elkhart church holds vigil for slain teenager

ELKHART, Ind. -- Elkhart Police are still looking for a suspect in the murder of Devonte Patrick who was shot and killed in the parking lot of Prairie Street Mennonite Church.

A candlelight vigil was held for Devonte Patrick in the parking lot of the church where he was gunned down.

It was the third shooting in Elkhart in the last few months that involved a teenager.

The church congregation wanted to come together to pray for the teen, his family, as well as the whole community of Elkhart.

Pastor Kraybill says since the shooting happened so close to Christmas, it really hit the church community hard.

"To have this happen right on our property makes the pain very immediate and renews our commitment to be here," says Kraybill.
