Elkhart Community Schools issues statement about Trump rally
ELKHART, Ind. -- The Elkhart Community Schools Board of School Trustees released a statement about the use of the school for President Donald J. Trump's rally later this week.
Statement from board President Karen Carter:
Last week, Elkhart Community Schools was approached by President Trump’s office regarding the use of North Side Gym for a rally. The Board, in a similar circumstance with President Obama, chose to offer the use of our facilities to a sitting U.S. President, regardless of party. In that case, President Obama chose another location, based upon air conditioning, security, and parking issues. In the visit that is before us now, the Board used the same rationale: open our facilities to a sitting U.S. President, regardless of party. In the end, the Board of School Trustees acknowledges and respects the office of the President, regardless of party affiliations and positions.
