ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- CORRECTION: Although Beacon said Elkhart General Hospital had the first baby of the new year, Goshen Health posted separately on Facebook about their first birth, which was earlier.
Officials with Goshen Health announced Sebastian Alejandro Graciliano was born to Ezlyn Aguirre at Goshen Hospital at 1:24 a.m.
Graciliano weighed in at 7 pounds, 0.9 ounces and measured 20 inches long.
Officials say both mom and baby are doing well.
ORIGINAL STORY: After checking with other local Beacon hospitals as well as St Joseph, Elkhart General Hospital welcomed what they believed to be the first baby of the new year within its health system on Wednesday morning.
Bennett Dahmen was born at 2:45 a.m. at Elkhart General Hospital, weighing in at 7 pounds, 10 ounces to proud parents Hannah and Billy Dahmen of Edwardsburg.
Just a few hours later first-time parents Andrea Garcia and Jhavier Luna welcomed their baby girl Julieta Luna Garcia born at 5:02 a.m. at the Three Rivers Health Hospital Birthing Center. She weighed in at 9 pounds, 4 ounces.
