UPDATE: The suspect in this situation is dead. The injured officer, identified as Corporal Jonathon Carver, has non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.
ORIGINAL STORY:
ELKHART, Ind. -- An Elkhart County Regional SWAT Officer is injured after being shot while serving a warrant.
The Elkhart Police Department confirms officers arrived to a home on 700 West Franklin Street at 10 p.m. Monday.
Officers say someone began shooting from the home, and one SWAT officer was hit. He was taken to the hospital and treated and has since been released.
SWAT was unable to communicate further with those inside the home, but eventually detained everyone at about 1:00 a.m. Tuesday.
The area of Franklin and Vistula is no longer blocked off.
The name of the injured officer is expected to be released later Tuesday.
