City of South Bend

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The City of South Bend announced the sixth and final phase of construction on the Ireland Road and Ironwood Drive intersection will begin Tuesday.

Officials say this phase will focus on the center lanes of Ireland Road, including the intersection.

City officials say after construction is complete, crews will pave the final layer of asphalt across the entire intersection.

This work will be done at night to minimize traffic disruption.

During the final phase, officials say left turns will be prohibited from all directions at the intersection.

Northbound and southbound traffic won't be able to pass through the intersection.

Motorists on Ironwood Drive will only be allowed to turn right onto Ireland Road.

Motorists on Ireland Road will be able to continue straight or turn right.

Motorists will still be able to access all businesses in the impacted areas during construction.

The project is expected to be complete by early July, weather permitting.
