Firefighters extinguish fire at Benton Harbor apartment complex

An apartment in Benton Harbor caught fire Tuesday afternoon.

Around 2:20 p.m., Berrien County dispatched crews to the Cogic apartment complex on Territorial Road.

When firefighters arrived, they saw smoke coming from a ground level apartment.

Firefighters quickly put out the flames.

"Started in the kitchen. It actually was spreading fast. We had a good response to get here quickly to make sure it didn't go any further. Probably another five more minutes, that probably would've spread to another apartment," Daniel McGinnis, Benton Harbor Public Safety Director.

There were no injuries.
