Fire destroys barn at property on Pear Road in South Bend

SOUTH BEND,  Ind. -- Firefighters responded to a fire at a barn on property in the 58000 block of Pear Road in South Bend.

The fire started just after 11 a.m . Thursday.

Fire crews had to fight the fire from outside the structure because it was too unstable.

The barn was a total loss.

The homeowner said many of her late husband's tools were in the barn.

Investigators are still working on determining the cause of the fire.
