Former Detroit mayor to be sentenced

DETROIT — Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick will soon learn how much time he'll spend behind bars.

Kilpatrick is scheduled is to be sentenced Thursday in a Detroit federal courthouse.

In March, a federal grand jury found Kilpatrick guilty of racketeering, bribery and other charges.

Federal prosecutors say the 43-year-old should face more jail time than any other convicted politician around the country. They are asking for 28 years.

Kilpatrick's lawyer is arguing for no more than 15 years behind bars.
