Governor Eric Holcomb held a press conference Wednesday afternoon to provide an update on the state’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The governor announced he is deploying the Indiana National Guard to all 534 long term care facilities in the state.
On Monday, 399 troops will be deployed to 133 of the hardest hit facilities.
By November 16, a total of 1300 troops will be deployed to all long term care facilities in the state.
The troops will assist staff with infection prevention, data entry, staff and visitor screening, wellness checks and much more.
For COVID-19 numbers in the state, we are now at a 7.1 positivity rate. Anything above 5 is considered high.
The state hit the highest number of hospitalizations so far on Tuesday of this week.
