Health department to begin distributing flu shots in St. Joseph County

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Flu shots are now available in St. Joseph County.

The health department got the vaccine earlier this week and decided to hand it out a little earlier than normal.

Health officials say they used to wait until October to distribute the shot.

"CDC and various medical organizations specifically recommend pregnant women, people on chemo, with chronic problems specifically get the flu shot but we really encourage everybody," Dr. Thomas Felger said.

The flu shot is $25.

It is available on the 8th floor of the County-City Building in South Bend.
