House fire investigation on Cleveland Road

Multiple fire trucks from the Clay Fire Department responded to a St. Joseph County home Monday evening. Around 6:00 p.m., smoke could be seen coming from a house in the 18000 block of Cleveland Road near Juniper Road.
Officials say there was an active fire in the living room of the home and were able to contain the fire to the area where it started.
Two people were home at the time of the fire and escaped without injury.
According to fire officials, the cause of the fire is believed to be from an electrical issue.
