Independent firm to review ISTEP results

Indianapolis  -- After the many technical problems during testing, a third party group will review the results of this year's ISTEP tests.

Nearly 70,000 students were affected by service interruptions and now school officials want the results thrown out.

The state superintendent says the review firm will determine whether those results are valid.

"These interruptions were simply unacceptable and they call into question the validity of the test scores," said Indiana School Superintendent Glenda Ritz.

State lawmakers ordered an investigation into the testing and its results.

In May, the test contractor said the problems would likely delay test results until July.
