Indiana State Police are putting more patrols out on the streets for the holiday weekend.
Troopers remind anyone drinking this weekend to get a sober ride home.
Whether it's designated driver, rideshare, or taxi, anything is better than an entirely preventable tragedy.
For the designated drivers out there honing their defensive driving skills, ISP has some tips for you as well.
- keep an eye on your surroundings
- keep a reactionary gap between you and a vehicle that's ahead of you
ISP typically recommend two to three car lengths.
ISP also says if you suspect someone of drunk driving, to always call the police and give them the vehicle's plate number and description so they can take care of it.
