ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- On both sides of the state line, events were held to celebrate the holiday commemorating the end of slavery.
A monumental groundbreaking connecting St. Joe & Benton Harbor was held, honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The 3rd annual Nile’s Juneteenth Festival was held and the whole community was invited in a celebration of freedom.
The Elkhart Chapter of Indiana Black Expo’s educational Parking Lot Party was held outside the Elkhart Library that attracted more than 700 people.
All the events had the same goal of bringing the community together.
