Kosciusko Area Bus Service adding new route starting Monday

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. -- The Kosciusko Area Bus Service (KABS) will launch the Lake City Loop, a deviated fixed-route service, on Monday, Sept. 8.
The service will follow a scheduled route with 16 designated stops in Warsaw and Winona Lake.
The bus will arrive at each stop once every hour, with the Warsaw Community Public Library being the stop at the top of each hour.
The service is a deviated fixed route, which means it follows a schedule with designated stops and offers limited off-route pickups and drop-offs by advance request. Deviations are intended to assist those who are near a bus stop within one-quarter mile but cannot reach a stop. The route will allow up to one deviation per hour.
The Lake City Loop will operate from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. For the first two weeks, Sept. 8 through Sept. 19, customers may ride the Lake City Loop free of charge.
Beginning Monday, Sept. 22, the bus fare will be $1 per ride for adults, with any deviation in route costing an additional 50 cents. Children under age 8 ride free, with a limit of two children per fare-paying adult. Monthly passes are available for $20 and provide unlimited rides for the month. Passes may be purchased at the KABS office, 1804 E. Winona Ave. in Warsaw.
If you cannot reach a bus stop and would like to arrange a route deviation, call KABS at (574) 267-4990.
