KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. -- Court documents from Kosciusko Circuit/Superior Court reveal 21-year-old Marco Antonio Sanchez-Hernandez, of South Bend, is facing several charges following an incident which occurred at Edgewood Middle School on Sept. 26.

Sanchez-Hernandez allegedly went to Edgewood Middle School where he attempted to take a student out of school.

The student said the two met on TikTok and agreed to meet up.

Sanchez-Hernandez is charged with Kidnapping where victim is less than 14 years of age, a Level 5 Felony, Possession of Child Sex Abuse Material, a Level 6 Felony, and Obstruction of Justice, a Level 6 Felony.

His bond was set at $101,000.

His initial Hearing is set for Oct. 9 at 1 p.m.

A Warsaw police officer working as a School Resource Officer at Edgewood Middle School on Sept. 26, said she was made aware of a man, later identified as Sanchez-Hernandez, was trying to pick up a student.

Sanchez-Hernandez told staff he was a family member of the student.

Staff checked PowerSchool and learned he was not on the list of authorized people to pick up the child. The student's parent was immediately contacted.

Police say another school staff member assisted with translation, as neither Sanchez-Hernandez nor the student spoke English.

The parent confirmed they didn't know Sanchez-Hernandez, and he was not authorized to remove the child from school.

Sanchez-Hernandez was identified by his Mexican Consulate ID card while an officer spoke with him outside the school.

The student said they thought Sanchez-Hernandez was 18, while Sanchez-Hernandez thought the student was 15.

When Sanchez-Hernandez agreed to speak with police on Sept. 30 at the Warsaw Police Department, his cell phone was collected as evidence.

Police say they found messages between him and the student. Sanchez-Hernandez told police the two were just friends.

Some messages from Sanchez-Hernandez to the student stated they both needed to delete the messages and pictures sent to each other.

Authorities also located several images of child sexual assault material, specifically multiple images of a completely nude female who appeared to be under the age of 18.
