Man sentenced after pleading guilty to 2020 charges of Rape, Burglary, Child Molesting

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- Court documents from La Porte County reveal Demarcus Williams, who was arrested in 2020 for a Michigan City crime spree, was sentenced on Nov. 21 after pleading guilty to three of 12 charges.

Williams pled guilty to one count of Rape, one count of Burglary, and one count of Child Molesting. His other charges were dropped.

He was sentenced to16 full years in prison for Rape, 12 full years in prison for Burglary, and 12 full years in prison for Child Molesting.

Williams will serve his sentences consecutively for a total of 40 years.

His sentencing order states:

"The aggravating factors, along with the fact that Defendant was malingering with respect to competency, shows his disdain for the law and others, as well as an inability to comply with the law and comport himself appropriately in the community. He is a danger to society and the victims, and therefore, consecutive sentencing is warranted in this case."
