Man shot on South Bend Avenue

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- ABC57 News is following breaking news out of South Bend.  Police say one man was shot late Tuesday afternoon on South Bend Avenue.

Jason Aubry is at the scene of the investigation.  Here's what we know so far:

An off-duty officer happened to be driving past the home where the shooting took place when she saw a fight taking place on the front law.

When the officer turned her cruiser's lights and sirens on, everyone scattered.  That's when she saw the man laying on the ground.

When she checked him out, she found that he had been shot in the stomach.  She doesn't know if he was shot inside the home or outside on the lawn.

An ambulance took him to the hospital for medical treatment.  He is in stable condition.
