Mayor Buttigieg vetoes zoning decision for Women's Care Center

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg vetoed the zoning ordinance that would have allowed the Women's Care Center facility, a crisis pregnancy center, to open next to a proposed health center that would include abortion services.

Abortion advocates on both sides were lobbying the mayor to rule in their favor.

The mayor decided to veto the bill because the neighborhood would not benefit from having two facilities with opposite commitments on such a controversial subject.
