National Drug Takeback Day

SOUTH BEND, Ind.--The Alcohol and Addiction Resource Center teamed up with local law enforcement at five locations around South Bend  for National Drug Take Back Day.

The goal of Drug Take Back Day was to remove opioids from medicine cabinets to prevent them from being sold illegally.

"So the last time we did this was last spring and total, collectively, amongst five sites they brought in 2,500 pounds of medications and they were incinerated and kept out of the water system and out of the wrong hands." Sharon Burden, Executive Director at the Alcohol and Addiction Resource Center.

According to St.Joseph County law enforcement, those who missed the event can still bring pills to any local police department at anytime.
