New AI guide available at Ball State University

Ball State University

MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State University Libraries has introduced a new research guide to help students, staff, faculty, and other community members to use Artificial Intelligence more effectively.

The interactive guide is now available on the BSU library website.

The guide helps users assess the credibility, accuracy, and ethical implications of generative AI tools like ChatGPT and image generators through five short videos and examples.

Some key learning outcomes include:

  • Practicing the SIFT method and lateral reading to assess source credibility
  • Evaluating the accuracy and trustworthiness of AI-generated information
  • Applying generative AI insights constructively in academic and professional contexts

“As AI tools become part of our everyday lives—shaping how we learn, work, and communicate—it’s critically important that we all know how to use them ethically,” said Dr. Nancy Abashian, dean of University Libraries. “This guide helps users build the awareness and skills needed to navigate AI thoughtfully. I encourage everyone—on campus and in the community—to take advantage of this resource.”

The new AI guide is one of many resources available at the BSU library. A full collection of research guides can be found on the BSU library website.
