New CNA program at Chandler Education Center

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- Goshen High School snipped the ribbon today to celebrate their new program at the Chandler Education Center.

This would be the first CNA class to pave a new pathway for students to gain new skills and open doors to their future healthcare careers.

The first set of students will learn over 70 resident care procedures to prepare them for their certification test such as handwashing, vitals and how to properly feed a patient.

Chandler Education center used to be an elementary school that was upgraded to an educational academy to aid career and technical programs (CTE) just like this one in efforts to give students hands-on clinical experience to obtain their Certified Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA).

Goshen’s College of Nursing, Goshen Health and Greencroft communities will give students hands-on clinical experience to be able to gain their certification before graduation.

Esmer Aldatoriz Flores is a CNA student enrolled in the program and shares how beneficial the program will be for, and other students interested in healthcare.

“With this class you are able to go hands-on. It's not like always sitting in a class and taking notes. It’s like at some point we will be doing clinical trials and going to nursing homes being hands on and stuff like that is just a good opportunity for this class," said Flores.

GHS does offer other CTE programs in addition to the CNA program such as: Fire & EMS, Construction and Goshen Television.

If you want to take advantage of the CNA program or other CTE programs that Goshen High School offers you must be enrolled as a student.
