GRAND BEACH, Mich. – New trail options will be coming to Berrien County soon.
The state approved a grant that will allow the village of Grand Beach to acquire 42 acres of land to build more trails.
“It’s a great idea for them to build more trails over there,” Grand Beach resident Jeremiah Preston said.
The future non-motorized trail borders the Chikaming Open Land Grand Beach Marsh reserve.
Chikaming Open lands said they will help manage the property.
“So we will work with them to develop the trail system appropriately and make sure that we’re not running it through any sensitive area making sure that the route and that the trail takes ae compatible with the natural area and the eco-system,” Chikaming Open Lands Executive Director Ryan Postema said.
The trail has to wait for the grant process to work its way through before construction can begin.
