Notre Dame football trying not dwell on the loss to Ohio State while preparing for Duke
SOUTH BEND, Ind -- After falling to Ohio State 17-14 in the final seconds, the Irish must move forward to finish the season successfully.
It’s been 72 hours since the Buckeyes crossed the endzone with a game winning touchdown – and silenced the crowd at Notre Dame Stadium.
"For the 2023 Irish defense, the buck stops with me," Defensive Coordinator Al Golden said.
For the second year in a row, Golden's defense limited an explosive defense until the final play, with only 10 players on the field.
"At the end of the day, if there's lack of execution or miscommunication or anything, that takes away from the execution and results that we want. That's my responsibility," Golden added.
Unfortunately, things don’t get easier with Duke next up on the schedule, in another prime-time matchup at 7:30 p.m.
"Tremendous amount of respect. It's a tough challenge for us again. And you know, there's no rest, there's no rest time for us we have to get prepared, make sure our guys are ready to go because this is gonna be tough to ask them there," Offensive Coordinator Gerad Parker said.
"Once Monday hits, it's on to the next opponent, you know, you go through the game film with your coach afterwards. And then right after that, like, you got to move on because you don't have time to dwell on that otherwise you won't be taking full, full advantage of the opportunity this week. I mean, we have College Game Day again versus Duke, a night game against a good opponent," offensive lineman Zeke Correll added.
