Notre Dame hockey holds annual military appreciation night

Friday night is Notre Dame Hockey's annual Military Appreciation night.

The team will wear commemorative jerseys during their warm up and those will be auctioned off to raise funds for Defending the Blue Line. The organizations helps children in military families play hockey. They give free equipment and provide financial assistance for costs associated with hockey.

Former Governor Joe Kernan will be honored during the Fighting Irish Salute recognition, which happens at every hockey night. Kernan is a Navy lieutenant, Notre Dame alumnus, Vietnam Prisoner of War.

During intermission there will also be a fundraiser "Chuck-a-Puck." A military ATV will be parked on the ice. Fans can purchase a puck for $5 and the puck that gets closest to center ice wins a prize pack.
