October frost looks to be delayed this season

NOW: October frost looks to be delayed this season

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- It is getting to be that time of year when we see our first frost.

On average, South Bend sees their first widespread frost, or temperatures of 36 degrees or colder, on October 4th.

Last year, the first frost came on October 22nd, so a little delayed than typical.

We are not expecting any frost or freeze here in South Bend over the next week or so.

There is a chance some rural areas could see frost early next week as lows dip to the lower 40s to upper 30s.

Otherwise, no frost or freezes are anticipated in the next week or two weeks as warmer than average conditions take hold.

It is likely we will not see any frost until mid-October, so similar to last year.
