ELKHART, Ind. – Fire officials in Elkhart responded to a house fire on Osolo Road Sunday morning with a 35-year-old man inside who had been experiencing mental health issues.
When firefighters arrived on the scene they say heavy smoke was coming out of the house.
The 35-year-old man then fled out of the house without any clothes on and took off running.
Officials were able to find the man later on and they transported him to a mental health facility.
“It’s a 35 year-old male going through some mental health issues,” Lieutenant Travis Snyder of Elkhart PD said. “Officers were able to get him under control and make sure he wasn’t injured. They got him a blanket and took him to a mental health facility. During that time the fire department showed up and put the fire out.”
Officials are reporting that no major damage happened to the house and nobody was injured.
