Peregrine falcon Guinevere passes away

SOUTH BEND, Ind. --- One of South Bend's original peregrine falcons, Guinevere, died over the weekend.

A local raptor rehabilitation specialist said Guinevere might have hit a sign and been picked up by a snow plow truck.

The bird's body was found in a snow bank along the side of the road.

The specialist told us what Guinevere meant to the city.

"She and Zephyr were for all the years that they were here they brought some excitement into people's lives, they brought something out of the ordinary, something that most people never get a chance to see," Raptor Rehabilitation Specialist, Carol Riewe said.

During Guinevere's time in South Bend, she hatched 11 sets of birds.
