PLYMOUTH, Ind. -- As Michiana residents clean up after the flood, one family in Plymouth learned the importance of flood insurance the hard way.
"There was no saving it," Nichole Hickey said. "There was no amount of sandbags that we could even waddle in here and try to put down because it was already here."
ABC57's Tom Coomes went into the flood zone in Plymouth to an area where water poured into homes.
There were stories of loss and heartbreak - but also stories of hope as the community came together to help each other.
"All we could do was try to save the rest of the community, that the flood was eventually easing its way into," Hickey said.
At 11 p.m., Tom will have the full story of the Hickey family, their neighborhood, and a warning about being covered for a disaster.
