Police confirm one dead in Lawndale Avenue shooting

The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit has positively identified the man who was shot and killed Saturday night.
The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Chaundra A. Johnson.
Saturday night shortly after 10:30 p.m. South Bend Police responded to the 1000 block of Lawndale in reference to a shot spotter alert.
Johnson died at Memorial Hospital.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday morning in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
The County Metro Homicide Unit (CMHU) was activated per protocol to handle the investigation.
The investigation remains active and ongoing; at this time no suspects have been taken into custody.
