Residents near St. Joseph still under boil water advisory

UPDATE: The boil water advisory has been lifted for residents around the city of St. Joseph.

ORIGINAL STORY:

ST. JOSEPH, Mich. - Residents around St. Joseph are still under a boil water advisory Monday afternoon, following a major water main break on Saturday.

The break happened near Marquette Woods and Hickory Creek.

The system was flushed on Saturday and Sunday, and water sampling has begun in areas where flushing was done.

It takes 24 hours to get results from water sampling. If those tests are acceptable, the advisory could be lifted.

Officials plan to provide another update at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

As a reminder, the following communities should be boiling their water:

  • Lincoln Charter Township, including the Village of Stevensville
  • Royalton Township
  • Section of St. Joseph Charter Township west of the St. Joseph, including the Village of Shoreham

Residents who live in the City of St. Joseph and the section of St. Joseph Charter Township west of the of St. Joseph River (Fairplain) don’t have to boil their water.
