SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Sew Loved Inc. in South Bend is working to create masks to help local medical professionals.

The organization is working to manufacture N95 mask covers for Beacon Health hospitals and medical centers.

Masks have been approved by Beacon and can be washed, autoclaved and reused by medical staff.

Sew Loved is now asking for volunteers to help sew the masks and for donations to help cover materials.

The organization says they have enough supplies to produce 20,000 masks but will need to order more as the necessity continues to rise.

Interested sewers will receive a test kit in the mail so that they do not have to come in contact with other sewers, and will be able to send the completed masks back with a pre-paid postage label.

Sewers and donators alike can head to their website for more information on how to contribute to the organization’s cause.

Elkhart County is also asking for donations of masks and gowns, which can be delivered to the 4H Fair Office in Goshen or the Elkhart Police Department in Elkhart.

More information can be found online and questions may be emailed to Michelle Miller of the Elkhart County Police Department.
