South Bend Adult Education recognized as Program of Excellence two years in a row
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- For the second consecutive year, South Bend Adult Education has been honored with the Program of Excellence designation by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) for its outstanding achievements in adult education.
DWD has given the Program of Excellence designation to 21 adult education programs across the state, recognizing their adherence to multiple state and federal metrics related to student academic achievement, enrollment, employer partnerships, high-demand wage training, and high school equivalencies earned.
DWD Commissioner Richard Paulk stated, "Indiana continues to excel as a state, leading the nation in student outcomes for the past six years, due to the hard work, dedication, and innovative practices being implemented at the program level in communities every day."
School officials say St. Joseph County has witnessed the impact of adult education success, with increased economic activity and heightened workforce participation attributed to the upskilling of students through career training and foundational education credentials provided by South Bend Adult Education.
The South Bend Adult Education team focuses on helping adult students achieve their goals and improve their lives.
"We have set goals with our staff and discussed how we plan to achieve them," Supervisor of South Bend Adult Education Jennifer Gorski said, "We offer support to anyone struggling or needs help, and everyone contributes their unique skills to the team. We closely monitor data and find effective ways to accomplish our tasks."
