Plymouth Schools return to paid meals following lower reimbursement from USDA
ABC 57 PLYMOUTH, Ind. -- The Plymouth Community School Corporation recently sent a letter to district families regarding the end of free meals beginning in fall of 2026.
Plymouth school officials note in the letter that return to free, reduced, and paid meal pricing for the 2026-27 school year.
The change comes after learning the reimbursement from the state and USDA is not enough to cover the increased cost of food, officials said.
The district has been able to offer free meals for the past two school years.
Paid meal prices:
- Breakfast - $2.50
- Lunch - $3.50
Reduced price meals:
- Breakfast - $.30
- Lunch - $.40
If students qualify for state benefits like Medicaid, SNAP, TANF, or are a foster, those benefits will be recognized in PCSC’s School Nutrition Program.
Families who believe their household income will qualify for free or reduced priced meals are welcome to fill out an income application at their school or online any time after July 1.
