South Bend man sentenced to over eight years for bank robbery

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - A South Bend man was sentenced to over eight years in prison after being found guilty of bank robbery, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Shamond Jenkins, 20, was sentenced to eight years and four months in prison, two years of supervised release, and must pay $1,965 in restitution.

In December of 2020, Jenkins went to a bank and gave an employee a note threatening to kill them if they didn't give him cash, according to case documents.

As employees gathered cash out of the teller drawers to give to Jenkins, he repeatedly told them he was prepared to kill them, reports said.

He then left the bank with the cash, reports said.

Jenkins was arrested in January of 2021 and found guilty by a jury in December of 2021.
