SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Wednesday, the South Bend Police Department honored 60 officers for their bravery and service to the community.
The Officer of the Year Award was given to officer Tyler Donlon—also known as The Hound.
He gets his name from being an expert at finding stolen cars.
"It's nice to get the award but I was just doing what I like to do, so I guess that makes it nice you know to kind of get recognized for that but then again I took the oath of office to protect and serve the citizens of this city and that's all that I was doing,” said Donlon.
South Bend Police estimate that Officer Donlon has recovered more than $1 million in stolen property.
