Saint Joseph High School announces plans to change the Indians nickname

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Saint Joseph High School will change the nickname of its athletic teams and mascot at the end of the 2022-2023 school year.

The school has always been the Indians but has come under pressure to change it.

In January, a committee was formed to discuss the possibility of changing the name.

This committee, as well as their evaluation process, is public on the school's website.

During the fall semester, the school will begin the process of choosing a new name. This process will include input from students, parents, faculty and alumni.

Until a new name is determined the school's nickname will be "Saint Joe."
