Two motorcyclists arrested following high-speed pursuit with Plymouth police
PLYMOUTH, Ind. -- The Plymouth Police Department reports a Marshall County deputy advised police about three motorcycles traveling east on U.S. 30 at more than 90 miles per hour around 12:10 a.m., Thursday.
Authorities say the deputy initiated a traffic stop on U.S. 30 and Oak Drive, but only one of the three motorcycles stopped.
The report states a Plymouth officer was near U.S. 30 and Michigan Road and located the two remaining motorcycles, pacing them at 100 miles per hour as they continued east on U.S. 30.
Police say the officer initiated a traffic stop and both motorcycles initially stopped, before both quickly accelerated and continued to flee.
Authorities say one motorcycle continued east on U.S. 30 while the other took the U.S. 31 north exit.
The first motorcycle continued on U.S. 30 into Kosciusko County.
At one point, police say the first motorcyclist, identified as 40-year-old Ty Tavernier of Crown Point, Ind., rammed a squad car twice with his motorcycle before being taken into custody.
The second motorcyclist, identified as 37-year-old Timothy Berry also of Crown Point, finally stopped on U.S. 31 near Veterans Parkway and was taken into custody.
Both men were taken to the Marshall County Jail.
Berry faces criminal charges for misdemeanor reckless driving and felony resisting law enforcement.
Tavernier faces criminal charges for misdemeanor reckless driving, aggressive driving, criminal mischief, and felony resisting law enforcement and battery against law enforcement.
The report makes no mention of charges against the third motorcyclist.
