U of M athletic director resigns, Jim Hackett appointed

University President Mark Schlissel announced Friday that Athletic Director Dave Brandon had resigned his position and that James Hackett has been appointed interim Athletic Director.

His appointment must be approved by the university Board of Regents.

"I am humbled to help during this interim period to keep our momentum as a great institution," said Hackett.

Hackett graduated from U-M in 1977.

He was previously the CEO of Steelcase, a Grand Rapids office furniture company.
