United Way grills for charity

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- There was a cookout in South Bend on Wednesday all in the name of a good cause.

The United Way held their hot dog day in the middle of downtown South Bend.

For $5 people could get two hot dogs, chips and even a drink.

Mayor Pete Buttigieg took time out from his day to help cook some of the food.

One woman said she thought it was a perfect way to spend her lunch hour.

"It makes me feel real good. There are a lot of people out there that are in need so this is just another way to give back," Stacey Kuharic said. "Help people out. I think it's a great cause."

All the money raised goes straight to helping the United Way and several of their programs.
