BUCHANAN, Mich.--- People living at Leisure Ridge Apartments in Buchanan are outraged after having to walk across a plank to get out of their building. The plank was put there after management had a ditch built to resolve leaking issues.
On Tuesday, the plank was replaced with a bridge but some fear it still isn't a safe entry.
"It’s resting on dirt, the same dirt that’s been washing out with the rain," said the mother of one resident who didn't want to be identified. "It’s been raining all day on and off so it’s just continuing to washout."
In addition to the washout possibly growing due to the rainy weather, there are also injury concerns with the entryway.
"It’s not safe for anybody, especially around the hole where there’s just a few cones placed and the hole is wide open," said the mom. "At nighttime there’s no way to even see that this is a gaping hole that somebody can fall in and get hurt."
ABC57 reached out to property management as well as the parent company of Leisure Ridge but did not get an answer.
