Water main break causes damage in Maryland

MARYLAND -- The force of the geyser gushing from a broken water main could be seen for blocks Tuesday morning in Maryland.

The break of a 54 inch water main along Chevy Chase Lake Drive sent water flying 100 feet into the air.

It had enough power to topple trees and within minutes took out enough of the earth to take down a utility pole sending stop lights crashing to the ground.

"It is very intense and it's dangerous to be close to it and it seems like the trees are about to fall," said a witness.

The damage is still being repaired.
