Accumulating snow, wind chills below zero common this week

NOW: Accumulating snow, wind chills below zero common this week

Scattered lake effect snow showers mainly stay along and north of the toll road this morning, producing accumulating snow into the early afternoon. Wind chills in the southern counties of Michiana will likely dip to near -20F once again this morning, warranting extreme caution out the door due to potential for frostbite or hypothermia. Winds gust to near 35 MPH at times this morning across most of our area, creating a high risk for blowing and drifting snow that will likely cut down visibility at times during your morning commute. Give yourself 20-30 extra minutes to get to wherever you need to today! Post-frontal snow eventually becomes more developed lake effect snow throughout this afternoon and evening, bringing the accumulations further south into our forecast area with some communities in southern Michigan receiving three inches or more by Thursday morning. Highs stay in the teens from today through Saturday with lows at or below zero each day.

Today: Snow showers. High 15.

Tonight: Scattered snow showers. Low 0.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy. High 14.

Thursday: Snow showers. High 16.
