Argos man arrested after climbing into hospital ceiling following rescue from cold
ABC 57 MIAMI COUNTY, Ind. -- Indiana State Police report several troopers from the Peru District alongside deputies from the Miami County Sheriff's Office responded to a man in need of medical assistance just before 9 p.m. on Jan. 26.
The man, later identified as 38-year-old Adrian A. Arvizu of Argos, was found three-quarters of a mile away from his unoccupied vehicle which was found in the median near US 31 and C.R. 950 South.
Police say Arvizu was exposed to subfreezing temperatures and was taken to Duke’s Memorial Hospital for treatment.
While at the hospital, the report states Arvizu became uncooperative with officers before fleeing authorities and locking himself in a room.
Authorities say Arvizu then climbed into the ceiling space above and despite his family and police telling him to come down, he refused.
Police then entered the ceiling, at which point authorities say Arvizu became combative.
Arvizu was then arrested and taken to Miami County Jail.
Arvizu's preliminary charges are Resisting Law Enforcement, a Class A Misdemeanor, Criminal Mischief, a Class A Misdemeanor, and Disorderly Conduct, a Class B Misdemeanor.
