Incumbent Republican candidate Bill Huizenga ran on the promise to create more jobs, and increase growth in the economy to help combat the rising problem of inflation. He also states that he would support initiatives that would promote using more alternative energies rather than being dependent on foreign oil.
Huizenga also promised to help make healthcare more affordable, believing that it is often “out of reach for far too many people,” adding that improving mental healthcare should be a priority.
He believes in supporting immigration reform—though he says that border security must be prioritized.
Huizenga ran against Democrat Joseph Alfonso and Libertarian Lorence Wenke.
