Boys and Girls Clubs of St. Joseph County unveils 'Mobile Maker Lab' to Inspire hands-on learning

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The Boys and Girls Clubs of St. Joseph County has announced the launch of its state-of-the-art mobile maker lab, designed to bring learning to life and empower children to learn through doing.

Known as the RV There Yet? Great Futures Inventor Center, the mobile maker lab is a cutting-edge educational space on wheels, equipped with technology and resources to promote creativity and innovation.

RV There Yet? is equipped with an array of cutting-edge tools, including a 3D printer, laser cutters, computers, 3D pens, Oculus Rift, a CNC router, and more.

The Boys and Girls Club say these tools provide students with a hands-on approach to learning and align with Indiana Academic Standards, Indiana Employability Skills Framework, Next Generation Science Standards, and STEM Careers.

The mobile maker lab can extend STEM curriculum to any of its 25 sites across seven school districts in St. Joseph County, including those in more rural communities.

The Boys and Girls Club aims to inspire creativity and foster critical thinking skills among their young members.

Community members are invited to celebrate the unveiling of the RV There Yet? Great Future Inventor Center on October 23, at 4:30 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Clubs of St. Joseph County at 502 E. Sample St., South Bend, Indiana.
