SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Police Department reports officers responded to a single-vehicle crash Tuesday just after 12:30 p.m. in the 3300 block of Portage Road.
Upon arrival, police found a vehicle had crashed head-on into a pole.
Officers were told the driver, identified as a man in his 80s, appeared to have had a medical episode before going off road.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene while the passenger was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
