ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. – Elkhart County Deputy Health Officer, Dr. Bethany Wait, is reminding residents that the virus is still a threat after Elkhart General Hospital had a minor surge in recent cases.
“The state’s turning blue but we’re staying yellow, so I continue to encourage people to distance themselves. I do want you to pay attention, there was a county that went orange with a positivity rate of nine percent so it’s not over, and however I can encourage you to stick with it, is the best that we can hope for,” stated Dr. Bethany Wait, Elkhart County Deputy Health Officer.
Health officials are encouraged though, as 29,000 residents in Elkhart County have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and almost 18,00 have been fully vaccinated.
