MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- The Mishawaka Police Department reports that at least 15 vehicles and one home were damaged in a wave of vandalism late Saturday night into early Sunday morning.

One of the affected areas was Third Street, where residents shared security camera footage showing two vehicles driving down the block around 1 a.m. Sunday. In the video, multiple loud "pops" can be heard, sounds neighbors believe were car windows being broken shattered by BB guns.

Nearby, at Village Green Trailer Park, another incident occurred around the same time. One home was left with a hole in its siding, believed to be connected to the same string of mischief.

Despite the damage, most neighbors say they didn’t even realize anything had happened until the next morning.

“I woke up and saw on the 574 Nosey Group that someone had two [windows] broken down by Beiger School,” said Shari Power, a Third Street resident. “So, I came out while getting ready for work and I didn’t see damage to the car, but I came out and I saw damage to my window, so I immediately called my insurance company.”

The Mishawaka Police Department is asking residents in affected neighborhoods to check their security footage and report any relevant information to the Detective Bureau or Michiana Crime Stoppers at 574-288-STOP.
