Summer's Spotlight: Newest ice cream shop to Michiana circuit, Vanilla Bean Creamery

GRANGER, IN.-- "Breakfast of Champions!"

That is what Clara Miller said as we tasted ice cream at 5:30 in the morning.

Clara and her daughter Krista Berkey, are co-owners of Vanilla Bean Creamery--the newest ice cream shop to join the Michiana Circuit!

Their first location is located in Elkhart and has been there for 2 years, now just a week ago Saturday, they opened their 2nd location in Heritage Square off of Main Street.

The mother daughter duo with roots in Shipshewana and Goshen, starting their sweet treat dream with a bakery.

A few years later, when catering and events became too much--Miller decided to switch gears after watching Youtube videos on how to make your own ice cream.

From there Miller developed her own recipes and brought them to Elkhart where the fan base has continued to grow.

The ice cream is all homemade--from the recipe to the toppings--and is made in house along with the brownies and cookies also available.

Mom and daughter tell ABC57 that while the sometimes bump heads, working together is so special for them, their relationship, and the people they serve.

You can get the ice cream in a variety of ways:

- Single/Double/Triple scoop in a cup or cone (there are cake and homemade waffle cones).

- Taco Tuesday: ice cream tacos in homemade waffle taco cones.

- Ice Cream Flights: you can pick 4 flavors to sample from.

- Milkshakes made from any ice cream they have in house.

For more details on the joint you can follow them on Facebook @Vanilla Bean Creamery.
